AVCataloger uses a familiar interface that most are accustomed to using, that
of Microsoft Outlook®. Using a navigation bar down the left side of the
screen, it's easy to navigate between the data entry areas, reports, graphs,
and Internet resources integrated directly into AVCataloger.
Data entry is simple, type information in the top "add" row and then hit enter,
data is automatically saved. Internet resources are tightly integrated,
such as CDDB disc recognition by Gracenote® making cataloging Music CD albums
as easy as one click of the mouse. AVCataloger provides four main data
entry areas for cataloging Music, Video, Books and Software, with the addition
of two bonus areas, a Loan Log and Shopping/Wish List tracking system, similar
to a TO-DO list.
Numerous reports are provided for insurance purposes, inventory control, and
general cataloging. Interactive graphs are included to provide a visual
analysis of data broken down by each main topic area. AVCataloger is your
"4-in-1" cataloging solution - providing all four major cataloging areas within
one software application for ultimate ease of use.

Catalog Music Collections
AVCataloger makes it easy to catalog your purchased CD albums using the tightly
integrated CDDB disc recognition service. Place the CD album into your CD
drive and click the SCAN button in the CDDB area of AVCataloger.
AVCataloger will scan for the CD's serial number, transmit to CDDB, then return
complete album details and present the information in the CDDB cataloging
area. Modify if desired, or simply save, eject, and continue with the
next album.
AVCataloger provides a Rapid-Entry system whereas it will scan the CD in the
CD-ROM, collect data from CDDB, save it automatically, eject the CD and wait
for you to close the CD tray to repeat the process. This process makes it
easy to catalog your entire music collection in minimal time. Simply feed
the CD drive your CD albums when the tray opens, close the tray, repeat!
Entries saved by CDDB are flagged as such in the main music area.
Clicking this icon will bring up the CDDB browser window allowing you to
preview details about the album in your collection. You can add
additional details such as where the album was purchased, price paid, location
of storage, and index number for inventory/organization, and any other details
that you'd like by adding custom columns to suit your exact purposes.
CD albums can be easily entered manually as well using the predefined columns,
or columns created entirely by you. Simply type in the information,
select from the drop down lists, check any checkboxes, and hit enter. If
a drop down list doesn't contain the data you want entered, AVCataloger
recognizes the new entry and automatically adds it to the drop down list items
for you so it will be available on the next entry.
AVCataloger also provides a unique track level detail for each album entered,
also completely customizable to tailor to your specific needs. Organize
by track number, song details, etc. In addition to the track level
detail, AVCataloger provides, as with all core data entry areas, an "Image
Manager" where you can scan album covers or download from a Internet resource
and save with each album.

Catalog Video Collections
AVCataloger is equipped to catalog any video media type, whether VHS, Beta,
DVD, LaserDisc, etc. Use the predefined column set or define your own to
fit your exact requirements. Tightly integrated with the Internet Movie
Database (IMdb), AVCataloger can take a search item, such as a movie title,
retrieve the full movie details from the IMDb Internet resources, and load the
data right into AVCataloger for your review. Edit as required, click save
and your movie details are now complete within AVCataloger for your
records. Add additional information such as location, index, price paid,
rental price, or any custom field as required. Box pictures can also be
retrieved and saved with each entry.
IMDb is an optional entry system in addition to the core data entry area.
Movies can be easily entered directly into AVCataloger by simply typing in the
details and hit enter, add the next, and so on. Chapter level detail can
also be entered to enter information about each chapter of the movie, such as
DVD segments, etc.

Catalog Book Collections
If there is one thing we all have, it's books. Keeping track of what
books we own, loan out, have read, or "want to buy" is something AVCataloger is
designed to help you with. AVCataloger is tightly integrated with
Amazon.com's wealth of resources, tapping directly into their library and
returning a wealth of information about the books you a cataloging.
Using the Amazon.com scanning system "Online Book Query", enter the ISBN,
Title, or Author and click search. Your query is sent to Amazon.com and
the details are returned directly to AVCataloger in the predefined
fields. Modify as required and even append information such as your
custom columns, and save directly to your AVCataloger database.
AVCataloger will show a custom icon for information retrieved from Amazon.com
which you can click and open up a web page viewing the details of your book of
interest. This presents a unique option of not only cataloging your
current collection, but entering books that you WANT to buy. Add a custom
column, for example "own" and make it a yes/no column. For books you own,
it will be checked, for books that you are entering as a wish list, do not
check it. You can then group your data on this column and it will be
separated into two groups; a group that is "owned" and a group that is "not
owned" aka on your wish list. At any time, click the icon on the row that
will take you directly to Amazon.com and purchase the book when you're ready to
add to your reading list.
Book cover shots, if available, are also downloaded from Amazon.com's resources
and entered directly into AVCataloger for you. Manually cataloging books
is just as easy and provides the flexibility of adding any custom columns, as
required to suit your needs. Track chapter level details for each book as
well, also completely customizable separate from the parent data entry area.

Catalog Software Collections
If there is one area we are probably least organized, it's our software.
Do you have a good inventory of what software you own, what computer it's on,
and most importantly, what is the serial/registration number? AVCataloger
comes to the rescue with a very easy interface for tracking your software, and
for business use, what terminal contains which software license.
With AVCataloger, you can even track version level detail and any notes you
have such as what was added, any bugs fixed that you may have reported,
etc. Scan a picture of your CD and store it with your software entry as
it may be required to receive a rebate on a future purpose. In fact,
as with all data entry areas, scan in your original receipt and save with the
entry for your records, whether for insurance purposes, rebates, or simply good
record keeping.

Track Loaned items or rentals
AVCataloger provides two bonus tracking areas, one of which is the Loan
Log. Pioneering the concept of tracking loaned out items such as books as
we found ourselves forgetting we loaned books to friends and needed a way to
track who has what, how to contact them, and issue a reminder so we can
remember to get our belongings returned. The Loan Log is completely
configurable as well as the other areas of AVCataloger making it easy to extend
for any purpose, such as rental businesses. As with all areas of
AVCataloger, the limitation is the users creativity, it is designed for maximum
flexibility in mind.

Take "to-do list" style notes for shopping,
collecting, etc.
Have you ever listened to a song on the radio and thought you would like to buy
that album? We have, therefore we added a "wish list" or "shopping list"
as you may call it, section to AVCataloger. With just a few bits of
information you can jot reminder notes and print out lists to take on your next
shopping outing. The AVCataloger Wish List section is modeled after the
Microsoft Outlook "to-do" list area and is completely customizable to use as
your imagination desires.
