AVCataloger 3.8 Released

We're proud to announce another FREE update for all of our version 3.x registered customers - AVCataloger Version 3.8!  We've significantly improved this popular media cataloger which combines features for tracking Music, Video, Book, and Software collections all inside ONE program!  No need to have individual trackers for each media category!  AVCataloger is fun to use, extremely flexible, and has the great resources of CDDB by Gracenote, IMDb, and Amazon.com all closely integrated within AVCataloger.

We've been working hard on your feedback and we continue to improve this software we love using ourselves!  Here are just a few of the revisions in this update:

  •  Fixed a problem with data purged with insufficient detail to satisfy AVCataloger's minimum data requirements

How to find answers to common questions

As AVCataloger has been out over 7 years now, most questions have already been asked. Although we have been through several iterations of web sites and forum software, we are now established and have great resources at your disposal to find your answers quickly. It also helps us out if you try to find your answers from the resources we provide as every question we have to answer takes away precious development time from the other thousands of users awaiting new features, bug fixes, etc.

Here are the resources available to help answer your questions:

  1. First and foremost, the product documentation. Within AVCataloger you can click Help...Contents or view the documentation online.
     
  2. Search our forums. Our community forums contain not only valuable questions and answers from other users but also our Frequently Asked Questions forum where we post how-to's to assist you with questions we think may come up. We use a powerful forum system with great search functionality.
     
  3. Search our Knowledgebase (KB). Not long ago we launched a new help desk system to allow easier communications with NC Software. This system also allows you to review your correspondence at a later time should you need the answer to a prior question.
     
  4. When submitting a new help desk ticket our systems will try to suggest the answer to your question from the Knowledgebase automatically. Please review the suggested articles based on the submission of your inquiry.

We don't want you to NOT ask questions, that's part of your software purchase, free support. However, if you can help us and research your issue before asking, you are only going to benefit from our time saved as we can use that time to develop your future software. We put a lot of effort into documentation and online resources, please take advantage of them. Thank you for your effort in helping us help you.

IMDb Troubles?

We've had sporadic reports of some users unable to connect to the IMDb service from within AVCataloger.  AVCataloger simply uses Internet Explorer to call out to their web page, parse the data, and return the results into AVCataloger.  We had a customer report a solution to this problem which we've posted in our knowledgebase.

If you are experiencing problems with the IMDb area of AVCataloger, try adding http://www.imdb.com to the Trusted Sites list inside Internet Explorer.  When viewing Internet Explorer, click Tools...Internet Options.  Then click the Security tab, then the Trusted Sites icon at the top.  Click the Sites button and add the URL above into this list.  Retry AVCataloger.

On the top right of AVCataloger is a "Refer-a-Friend" menu button (see above). Click it and if you're a registered customer you will be taken to a special web page to provide the information we need to pay you! After you sign-up, you'll get a referral code which you need to give out in any way you wish (in good taste of course). When your referring customers come to our secure online store to purchase their license of AVCataloger they'll input your referral code just below where the enter the credit card number. We'll track the use of your referral code and voila, you will be sent a $10 check for their sale! There are no limits1, you will be paid at the end of the month for all of your referral activity. So for those that write newsletters or post our brochure on bulletin boards in flight rooms, spread the word AND get paid for it!
